'i will make something for you' - no 2

my creation for alex (yes, the cushion craze continues). i found myself making something that reminded me of the day i met her - at a friends blessingway...there were sumptuous cushions scattered throughout a beautifully set up tent with sides billowing in the breeze...somehow the purple seemed right too.
(and i'm still enjoying this way of breathing new life into old doilies)

  1. Very pretty! I love all the yummy pieces being made using old doilies lately. Last time I was at an op shop I picked myself up a few to have a play one day when I get around to it :)

  2. a little warning - the collecting can become addictive! you start to really see the beauty and differences in each one and it becomes just a little too easy to justify 'saving' them. i love the way you can add something like the (quite bright, actually) purple cord here and make it a little funky.

  3. I love what you have done with these doilies...I have a unfinished quilt project which features some doilies and this has just given me a gentle reminder to finish it! Love that it is a gift for the lovely alex too!

  5. funny kate, i have a quilt idea featuring doilies in the back of my head...be very interested to see what you do with yours.

lee lee - it is lovely to connect with other people who are blogging too and to see what they are getting up to. even when it's something quite different to what you're doing you can always find something to appreciate and inspire.

  6. hi lovely...i've just come across this post, long after receiving this gorgeous cushion...we love it so much, you should have seen mira's face when we come home to the package on the doorstop! and you were so spot on with the design for us...the velvety-soft cord, the purple, the plump cushion, the cotton crochet doily...even the shape of the doily, it's yoni shape, but also an eye, which are both symbols that are very meaningful for me.
    ...thankyou wonderful creative woman...
